I came across this stunning petal-lace in Paris a few years ago and instantly said I wanted to make my wedding dress using that fabric. This is the first bridal dress I made using the petal fabric, but not the one I got married in! When I returned to the fabric trade show in Paris looking to see that they still had it, they said they only had 8 meters left and then there was no more. So that was it, my dress I went all out and used nearly 8 meters of the petal fabric!!

"Sakura" is the Japanese word for Cherry Blossom and also the name of this collection - heavily inspired by the Cherry Blossom and all it symbolises. Did you know that every year, around April, the Japanese hold festivals called “Hanami” celebrating the short time (2-3 weeks) when the Cherry Blossom is in bloom. This tradition involves families and friends coming together to gather under the flowering cherry blossoms and be reminded of how precious our lives really are.
I think we should start this tradition here!

A trip to Japan during the month of April is definitely on the bucket list!

I didn't originally design this dress with the overskirt but i had it, and it worked, and it made for a great shot! 😍

I often wonder if its worth including long captions, if anyone bothers to read them but sure here is a little bit behind the making of this dress..... I bought the fabric years ago in Istanbul. I only bought 2 meters of it so I was limited in what I could make with it but always had this gorgeous dress in my mind. It's not a full circular skirt because I didn't have enough fabric (and couldn't just pop back to the shop lol!) I think i broke over 100 needles (sorry Colm and Larry!!) making this due to all the beading. I've since learned to hammer off any beads along seams BEFORE stitching now! Safety goggles essential!! There are 3 layers of soft tulle under the beaded lace and then a crinoline type hard tulle underneath again giving it structure. I just adore it. I would love to seem someone wear it for ladies day this summer at the races!

I would say my niece put in her request for a very special custom made communion dress made by her favourite fashion designer....her auntie Ali 😜.... when she was no more than 4! Princess style, lots of tulle, something she could twirl in, tulle sleeves, and a bow were all on her list! 🥰

I did some sketches for her, then we had a couple of fittings along the way. This really made her feel so special coming into the studio for her dress fittings!

"See Caption" - I spent hours spacing out the pins, cutting up the individual bits of elastic, measuring and placing them all meticulously, sewing them on tediously and securely, and then making sure the buttons all matched and fit through..... A year later I discovered you can buy the elastic pre looped and stitched in place!! DOH!! 🙈🙈

I wasn't letting the fact I was 7 months pregnant get in the way! This shoot took 3 years to happen as I only ever wanted to shoot it when the cherry blossoms were in bloom which is a short 2 week window each year and unfortunately lockdown and then life got in the way so it finally happened this year! I wasn't letting the fact I was 7 months pregnant get in the way! Shot by my fabulous best friend @irl_bribri (my friends are so talented!!) in the STUNNING Japanese Gardens in @irishnationalstudandgardens 💞

This weekend, I had the unbelievable honour of not only singing at the wedding of one of my oldest and dearest friends, but I also had the privilege to design and make her wedding dress! 🎤🪡🧵👰🏼‍♀️

Bespoke design and singing are the direction that I am moving in now, and I absolutely love it, and when I get to do it for one of my best friends - even better! 🥰🥰

Accompanied by the wonderful @banksie75 on keys, I sang @hermitagegreen stripped back version of @thecranberries song Dreams as the beautiful bride walked down the aisle. 🌟

I was thrilled when, after pounding the streets of Paris and one of the biggest fabric trade fairs, we ended up finding the most beautiful appliquéd lace right here in Dublin in @roisincrosssilks ☘️

My amazing parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago. ❤️❤️ As their wedding was so small (only 22 people at it!) they decided to have a big party to celebrate such an incredible milestone.🎉🎉

I wanted mum to have something very special for the occasion that she could dance the night away in and feel fabulous but also comfortable. So 2 days before the party I surprised her with a fitting! Thankfully she LOVED the dress and as you can see she danced all night long in it!!

*PART 3* 🌟🌟🌟 So you've seen the sketch, then the design and creation process and now a short little snippet of the dress in real life 🌟

Funny story behind this one. Anyone following a long time knows I rarely rarely post anything of myself (bar my hands 👐🤣) but with a bit of cajoling I was told if I want people to see my creations then I have to put them out there!! So needless to say getting this footage was way out of my comfort zone....

I asked my partner to sneak off with me from the wedding for a few minutes so we could get some photos or videos. As this happened his friend ended up walking with us, as luck has it he is a filmmaker so I said actually you might be the best person to do this! So he turned on his camera, got snapping and after went to send them to my partners phone....except he accidentally sent it to a big group of my partners friends.. about 20 photos of me 🙈🙈🙈 #MORTIFIED!! Even more embarrassing, my partner isn't even in that whatsapp group so we only realised it when one of the lads asked why he had sent all these photos of me. 🙈🙈🙈🤣 So much for getting a few quiet photos!!

Anyway, I loved designing and making this dress and it was so comfy to wear and fun to dance in!!
